Grey Faded Light
Faded light to black, eyes squint beneath new glare,
Heavy weight atop distinct despair.
Deep in ground before body cools,
Eyes burned free from sight,
Choking gas suppressing air.
Nails dig and scratch,
Hammered straight and deep,
Echoes drown screaming of the self,
All is touch, smell and taste.
The silent hum and drink beware,
Imminent eternal sleep,
Thoughts spiral such a waste.
Roots of tangled steely trees,
Drag claws upon the edges of my casket,
Sucking empty breath,
Lungs swallowed,
Soaked in blood.
Corners, edges clung to desperate seal,
Into my lifeless fleshy basket flowed,
Pushing lips towards a moldy covered sky,
Lift my life above unbroken flood.
Slashing forward death and every mighty sword she swung…
Within the lost cries,
There rose a
Fever pitched revival,
As the voice of God rang true
And solid,
Rage as though the animal were free and lose.
Look through prison walls,
Barred windows,
With new sight.
Scream at the base of these,
Your saturated lungs
From soiled and tainted blood you suckled,
Break loose that which holds you here,
I want you alive,
I wish you stronger,
Than the wood,
The steel,
This concrete tomb,
you have built.
Scrape the edges of the damned,
Find the heart of man,
Beneath the rubble of your dead love and frozen dream,
Smash the core of inhibition and rise from this grave.
No more a slave,
No longer chained.
This mortuary became a shade of light.
White clouds billowed on cascades of flowing,
Clear blue sky,
Caress the masked beast as she gnashes to bite,
I dare not ask why,
But live for God alone,
Until my last day or night,
By His own will be sought ,
And brought to bare,
Lest I play His counterpart in disobedience Faded light to black, eyes squint beneath new glare,
Heavy weight atop distinct despair.
